About Whip Street Motors

Whip Street Motors was founded by Geoff Baker in 1960. In 1962 the business moved to its current location in Great Whip Street, Ipswich. Expansion in the 60’s lead to a second site being established in Paper Mill Lane, Bramford on the outskirts of Ipswich.

Core Business
The core business comprises ferrous and non-ferrous metal recycling, vehicle dismantling, vehicle disposal and the sale of new and used car spares. We also offer other forms of waste disposal such as skip hire and waste collection.

The Business Today
Over the last 4 decades the business has maintained steady growth, however despite the expansion Whip Street Motors remains essentially a family run business by brothers, Charlie, Jodhi, Kevin and Greg.

We are in association with:
The Suffolk Chamber of Commerce
Vehicle Recyclers’ Association
British Metals Recycling Association

Just wanted to acknowledge the great work done by the guy who collected my old car today. I thought I could push it out of a difficult back driveway area, but underestimated the weight of the car and level of ground. In my day work I work with a lot of tradesmen and I was expecting huffing and puffing and the sucking of teeth that you get from tradesmen and utilities when the jobs not as easy as first thought, but your guy said "Let's have a go". He managed to get through a seriously narrow gap on a tight turn and winch the car out! Very polite and professional. I appreciate the effort. Please pass this on to him as he's done a great job. Many thanks, Nick.

I called up looking for new wheels for my car, the lady I spoke to was helpful and called back within an hour to say that they had some suitable bits. They were quick to take the wheels off the car and it was all very quick and painless. Plus it was cheap! they were also very honest about the condition of the wheels, telling me that I would need new tyres. will definitely use them again :)
